Friday, 20 April, 2007

Reuben Azzopardi will be representing Malta in an International Kickboxing Competition organized by the World Kickboxing Network (W.K.N). The Competition will be held on April 21 in Turin, Italy.

On March 17 and 18, Reuben Azzopardi took part in the second Cafe Jubilee Maltese Kickboxing Championship. The event was organized by Adrian Axisa, founder of the Malta Kick Boxing Association (M.K.B.A)

With his latest win, Azzopardi is holding the Light Heavy Weight Title Belt for the second year in a row. He took home the belt after winning with a Knock Out in the third round. Later in the evening he even won the Best Kickboxing Match Trophy. At the end of the event Axisa announced that Reuben will be representing Malta in the W.K.N competition.

The W.K.N is an international organization which holds Kickboxing competitions with Kickboxers all over the world. Some of these Kickboxers actually take part in the K1 matches as well.

For next weekend’s event, the WKN will organize a competition in which a European team will compete against an all Italian team. Reuben Azzopardi has been chosen to be part of the European team and will thus be representing Malta as well.

Reuben has been practising Martial Arts for almost 9 years. In these years he has become a Black Belt in Spirit Combat under Sensei Kevin Saliba at the Zen Shin Dojo, Zejtun. He is currently a Blue Belt in Kickboxing and training under the tutelage of Master Noel Mercieca, founder of the Ying Yang Club in Tarxien.
