Gatts fighting for a cause

She’s unassuming, with a reassuring smile and soothing voice.
But look closer at the 5-foot-1 frame and the muscle definition begins to stand out on her biceps and shoulders. Look closer when she smiles and there’s not an ounce of fat in her face. The 29-year-old proudly proclaims she’s in the best shape of her life.
Coaching the Winters Mill field hockey team and running after kids all day at Friendship Valley Elementary surely help, but none of that keeps her in this kind of condition.
No, Gatts needs a little more excitement.
Kickboxing provides it.
“It’s an addiction. I love it, I love the adrenaline,” Gatts said. “There must be a part of me that loves the attention of getting in the ring.”
Gatts, a North Carroll graduate, has been featured in numerous matches during a kickboxing career that began a decade ago, in 2000 holding the 118-pound Pennsylvania Kickboxing Association title, but tonight she’ll be in the spotlight promoting a cause.
